Day 2 Report

Day 1 Tuesday 13th June 2006

Wednesday 14th June Glasgow to Newcastle
Set off from Glasgow and head for Newcastle in brilliant sunshine. Meet up with Kenneth MacPherson from Mallaig - and his family - who is now a Police Officer down here and luckily only lives 2 miles from the ferry. He very generously invited us to visit and he and his lovely wife made sure we were fed and watered before heading for the ferry.

Newcastle with Ex -Mallaigite Kenneth MacPherson
At Kenneths house - huge thanks for the great food.

And the fantastic hospitality - (see you on the way back?)

Ready to head for the ferry
Last picture before tyres hit foreign tarmac!
Thanks to Anthony Reay for the above pictures

Get on the ferry about 5pm and after a bit of a struggle getting the bikes tied down securely go and find our cabins. 3 in one cabin and 4 in another. Great facilities on board, live band in the bar, cinema, restaurants etc. Lifeboat Coxswain (Bertie) is invited to the bridge by the captain to have a look and a blether. Early to bed since it's a long trek tomorrow.

Not sure it's a good idea to leave these two in charge of the Ferry!
